Since they likely will not find someone to attack, make sure to use the torch to reveal the surrounding area. Position your starting units so that the ones with the least movement are on the front lines and equipped with torches. Sigurd is less effective during this battle because the darkness limits movement. Additionally, all units can interact with beacons found around the battlefield to illuminate the surrounding area. This works similarly to a torch but allows the unit to gain Exp from using it. You can also purchase the Illume staff at the item shop and equip it to Framme or Jean.
